APFL Releases 2010 Schedule

Topeka, KS – The American Professional Football League released its 2010 schedule today.
The schedule kickoffs on Saturday April 17 with four games slated for that weekend.  The regular season runs through the end of June with the Playoffs and Championship games to be set in early- to mid-July.

A new feature to the schedule this year will be the inter-league games against foes from the Central Plains Football League (CPFL).  Much like the NCAA schedule begins with non-conference match-ups, so too will the APFL schedule include inter-league games to start their season.

Joining the APFL this year will be the three-time CPFL champion Mid-Missouri Outlaws from Sedalia, Missouri.  The first match-up to pit the APFL champion Iowa Blackhawks versus the CPFL champion Outlaws comes on Saturday June 5th in Sedalia.

“We’re excited about the Outlaws joining our league,” said APFL president Ralph Adams.  “The excellence they displayed in the CPFL will be a welcome addition to the already great competition we have in the APFL.”

The weekend of May 8th promises to be eventful with the past-APFL champion Kansas Koyotes hosting the current champs in Topeka.  That Saturday also sees the Outlaws traveling south to battle against in-state rivals, the Springfield Wolf Pack, for the first time in APFL history.  Both games promise to be smash-mouth, in-your-face battles.

The Junction City Force make their presence felt the first time on Saturday May 1st when they make the trip to Iowa to take on the Blackhawks.  The regular season culminates with a game that always has serious post-season implications.  On Saturday July 3rd the Blackhawks host the Koyotes in Council Bluffs, which will undoubtedly set the tone for the playoffs and championship in the following weeks.

“With all the strides every team has made this off-season, plus the additions of the Outlaws and the Force, I think the title is totally up for grabs this year,” added Adams.
